Cosmetic Safety
Although safety testing is not required, the U.S. FDA
strongly urges cosmetic manufacturers to conduct toxicological or other
tests that are appropriate to substantiate the safety of their
cosmetics.
FDA Registration
At the request of the cosmetic industry, the U.S. FDA
maintains the Voluntary Cosmetic Registration Program (VCRP)
registration of manufacturing establishments and filling of cosmetic
product ingredient statements (CPIS).
